Dumpster Rules, Regulations & Materials in Bakersfield
Updated June 2026California has real rules about what goes in a roll-off and how waste is diverted. Here are plain-English answers so your project stays compliant and your bill stays predictable.
How does California SB 1383 affect what I can put in a dumpster?
SB 1383 targets keeping organic waste out of landfills. For most home and demo projects it mainly means green/organic waste may be handled separately — tell us your materials and we'll guide you to a compliant plan.
Do you provide C&D waste-diversion paperwork for a building permit?
Construction-and-demolition projects sometimes require diversion tracking for the City of Bakersfield permit. Tell us up front and we'll route materials to divert and provide documentation of where they went.
What if the landfill rejects my dumpster over hazardous material a neighbor added?
It's why we ask you to keep the bin where it's visible. If contamination happens, we work with you — hazardous items have to be pulled and handled separately before the load can be dumped.
Can I rent a bin for heavy kitchen/bath tile and plaster demo?
Yes — tile and plaster are heavy, so we'll spec the load and tonnage so you don't overpay or overload. Just tell us the rooms.
Can I put old lath-and-plaster from a historic Westchester remodel in a bin?
Yes — old lath, plaster, and historic remodel debris are fine. They're dense, so we'll plan the weight with you.
Can I put roofing shingles in a standard roll-off?
Yes, but shingles are heavy — about 250–400 lbs per square. Tell us the squares and layers and we'll plan tonnage or a swap so you don't blow the weight limit.
Can I mix metal studs, siding, and wood framing in one bin?
Yes — mixed construction debris is fine in one container. Clean single-material loads (all metal, all concrete) can sometimes get a better rate, so ask.
Can I toss tree stumps, root balls, or large logs in a construction bin?
Small amounts yes; big stumps and root balls are extremely heavy and dense, so call first and we'll plan it or suggest a heavy-load approach.
Can I put artificial turf or plastic playground equipment in a bin?
Yes — synthetic turf, plastic play equipment, and similar bulky items are fine in a roll-off.
Do HOA rules in Seven Oaks or Haggin Oaks limit how long a bin sits?
Most Bakersfield HOAs allow short-term containers, and our standard three-day rental usually flies under the rules. Check your CC&Rs and keep it on the driveway.

"Absolutely wonderful service. These guys were quick, friendly, happy, and ready to work. The free appraisal was fast and they immediately started once we agreed. They cleaned up any scrap left from what they took and even offered to grab more if needed. This company is CSUB student owned and operated, the 2 founders are who helped me and it was great. Highly recommend these guys to anyone in need!"

"I do a lot of posts and reviews mostly for food and restaurants. This is my first time doing one for a service such as SWIFT. The guys showed up promptly when they said they would, and kept in contact with me great communication. They were very professional and nice. They cleared out the whole center of my garage for a fair price. Overall happy with my experience and 10 out of 10 would recommend."

"The Castillo brothers were quick to respond, and were willing to come out the next day, but I wasn’t available till the following week. They should up at the time they said they would. They dismantled a play structure and hauled it away. They left the area clean, so I had no clean up after they left. They did not disappoint, hire local and support these CSUB brothers. FYI this is the second tim…"

"After making several calls and inquiries with no response, I was relieved that these young people were more than happy to help us with a clean up job. They are well organized and easy to deal with, and they did a great job! It also made us feel good that we could help them through this program established by CSUB to assist them with tuition expenses. I highly recommend them!! It's a win, win fo…"
